Timothy Ray Miller wrote “When your inner eyes open, you can find immense beauty hidden within the inconsequential details of daily life. When your inner ears open, you can hear the subtle, lovely music of the universe everywhere you go.”

“Life is a string of stories that unites us all. It’s a journey and a teacher. Our story is based on our decisions and actions; each story is unique to us. It’s easy to take for granted that life is a great gift. We need to learn that today is the only guarantee we have. We don’t know for sure what will happen tomorrow and we certainly can’t change what happened yesterday, so look for the good in the world and make the best of this point in time and space.

Photography enables me to visualize and share my stories, thoughts and ideas into a unique visual package that I can then share. My photographs are a string of visual stories to give you a different view or perspective of life’s journey. Life gets hectic, so it’s good to slow down, look at the world around us and if you do this you will never be disappointed if you really look.” Gene Sasse

Gene’s first gift book, Garden Thoughts, tugs at the heart with its magic pairing of quotes and garden images. The flowers are so brilliant they radiate smiles, the trees dance in unseen wind and the fountains spew water so clear that visual thirst is quenched.

Sasse documented the last years of the most celebrated woodworker of our time, Sam Maloof, in the fine art book Maloof Beyond 90: An American Woodworker. Filled with original photographs accompanied by words of those who knew Sam best, this intimate look at Sam’s life is the highest caliber art. Like Sam’s furniture, the book is finely crafted through components selected by a rigorous process, then handcrafted to an heirloom quality. A visual and tactile pleasure is experienced by the reader. Featuring an introduction by President Jimmy Carter, Gene’s latest two books are on The Art of Milford Zornes was commissioned CCAA.
