Kevin is an eighteen year old autistic painter, who uses watercolor as a means to put passion and vitality to paper. Currently showing his work in a solo exhibit at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento.
The inspiration for Kevin’s work has no single source; he paints his world with freedom and joy. Kevin’s use of primary colors translates into an energy that belies the quiet young man. While his speech is soft and made up of few words, his work is anything but silent.
Kevin takes great delight from painting, and his works reflect that joy. It’s impossible not to feel with the artist when viewing his work.
Kevin experiences neurological and immune system difficulties, yet continues to paint with regularity. He is home schooled, and very active in the arts. He lives with his parents Donald an Ana in Sacramento, California.
After finishing a painting, Kevin will gently lay his brush aside and smile. When asked what he thinks of his work, he will often look up and calmly reply, “I like.” Those who see his art would agree. |
