The Figurative Vision exhibit presents the exploration of the human figure by three artists, Angela Hernandez, Sylvia Mergerdichian, and Helen Hayes. This exhibit represents the figure as an infinite point of intrigue that each artist individually probes through line, color, and shape. We are pleased to display the subject of the human figure with the fresh vision of contemporary art.

My main subject of interest involves the figure or figures in an exotic setting. To me, I find the figure as a symbol of intrigue and fascination. I can structurally drape a garment, feature its anatomical angles, play with light and shadow within the figure. Angela Hernandez

The female symbol I portray in my paintings are “Women with No Voice” and although they have no voice they have much to offer. Their Life’s experiences are layered and colored as my paintings. From the “Silent Women Series.”  Sylvia Megerdichian

My paintings are about relationships. My figures and their poses along with color, line, shape, and texture are used to convey the moods, emotions, and relationships within everyday life. I hope to challenge the viewer to use these elements and their own experiences to find meaning in my paintings.  Helen Hayes
